Composite Breast Augmentation: Natural Results with Implants and Fat Transfer
When breast augmentation surgery is mentioned, the first method that comes to mind is usually only prosthesis application. However, in recent years, it has become increasingly common composite (hybrid) breast augmentation The technique combines prosthesis and fat injection, providing much more natural, personalized and refined results. This is an approach that has become almost standard in my clinical practice.
What is Composite Breast Augmentation?
Composite or hybrid breast augmentation; It is a surgical method in which an implant (breast prosthesis) and the person's own fat tissue are used together. It has two stages:
- Stage 1 — Prosthesis: The implant is placed to increase the main volume of the breast and create the overall shape.
- Stage 2 — Fat Injection (Lipomodelling): Fat tissue taken from the patient's own body (usually the thigh or abdomen) is injected into certain areas after going through special purification processes.
Why Prosthesis Alone May Not Be Enough?
When only prosthesis is applied, some patients:
- He/she complains about the edges or folds of the prosthesis showing through the skin (rippling).
- Depression or asymmetry may occur depending on the anatomy of the rib cage.
- Small volume or shape differences between the two breasts may persist.
This is where fat injection comes into play; It takes over the fine-tuning and customization function that the prosthesis is limited to.
"In my own practice, I use the composite technique in almost all breast augmentation surgeries. First, I create the volume with the prosthesis, then I correct small asymmetries with fat injection, minimize rib cage deformities and give the breasts their ideal shape. The result is more natural, more balanced and more personalized."

Where Does Oil Come From and How Is It Processed?
Fat tissue is usually removed from the inner-outer surface of the thigh or the abdominal area by liposuction method. Fat removed; Cell integrity is preserved by going through special centrifugation and purification processes. Purified oil; It is injected with precision into the upper pole of the breast, edge areas or selected points to eliminate asymmetries. This stage is the most critical part of the surgery, especially in terms of natural and aesthetic results.
Who is Suitable for This Technique?
- Individuals who want breast augmentation and have sufficient fat reserves in their body
- Patients with minor asymmetry and requiring both volume and shape correction
- Those with mild deformities due to the anatomy of the rib cage (e.g. pectus casetum)
- People who aim for as natural a look as possible
What are the advantages?
- A much more natural feel and appearance compared to implants alone
- Precise control opportunity in asymmetry correction
- Additional shaping advantage in the liposuction area (double gain)
- Reduced risk of prosthetic edges showing through the skin
- A personalized breast form just for you
Recovery Process
The recovery process is largely similar to standard breast augmentation. Rest and pain management are recommended for the first 48 hours. Sports bra is used for 6-8 weeks. Heavy exercises are allowed after 6-8 weeks. Swelling may last a little longer in areas where fat injection was performed; The final shape becomes clear within 3-6 months.
